DANGEROUS BBC REPORTING COULD SEE AN INCREASE IN CHILD ABDUCTION FIGURES

THE PROGRAMME “MUMS ON THE RUN: FAILED BY THE FAMILY COURT” WAS BROADCAST BY THE bbc ON THE 4TH OF sEPTEMBER 2023. SEVERAL ARTICLES WRITTEN BY THE same REPORTING CORRESPONDENT, eD THOMAS, HAVE FOLLOWED. THE PROGRAMME IS AVAILABLE ON BBC IPLAYER FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN VIEWING SOME UNCHARACTERISTICALLY POOR JOURNALISM FROM mR tHOMAS.

PlEASE NOTE: SOME OF THE CONTENT OF THE bbc PROGRAMME IS OF A VERY SERIOUS NATURE. The reports of abuse suffered by children and mothers should not to be ignored, diminished or discredited. Mr Thomas also raises some very valuable issues regarding the requirement for reform within the uk civil justice system. Review and reform of our civil (and criminal) procedure is encouraged by scar.

However, we believe the bbc report is unbalanced, ill-considered and potentially harmful to children - particularly those living without the safety net of effective abduction legislation in Scotland.

Please see our letter to the BBC.
